When the Pet Come First
Gus Elfving started Pet Peeps in 2006. After working with a few pet care services companies in The District, he decided that there was a need for something slightly different.

Pet Peeps goes to your pet. The home, where the pet/client is safest and most comfortable, is where all of our services begin. Most pets do better in the comfort of their own surroundings. Anxiety, trauma, and exposure to illness and injury are all minimized in the pet's own home. This is especially important with younger and elder pets. It is imperative, with pets that are prone to anxiety or with displays of anti-social behavior. Even cats benefit from being looked in on by a human companion as opposed to being left to their own devices. Taking care of each pet in the home is how we begin to provide excellent service.

Pet Peeps continues to deliver top-notch service by focusing on one client at a time. Every single visit is scheduled and conducted individually. Even our dog walks. We may end up walking two dogs together, but not as a matter of coarse and not unless it's safe. The benefits of individualized care are clear especially true outside of the home. Pet People's individualized service is continued when we take the pet outside of the home.

It is our mission to bring the best professional in-home pet care services to you. And, we strive to do so at a reasonable rate.

This philosophy has been received so well, that Pet Peeps has experienced rapid and sustained growth in rough economic times and an already crowded marketplace. As a result, Gus Elfving has continued to recruit other dedicated and experienced pet care service providers to meet this need. 

Pet Peeps is fully licensed to do business in The District and is fully bonded and insured.

Pet Peeps is a member in good standing of both NAPPS and PSI - the two largest and most well regarded national pet sitting organizations. Pet Peeps is also a member of Professional United Pet Sitters.

Pet Peeps belongs to a national business bureau and ascribes to both its spirit and letter.


Gus Elfving Gus - Principal & Pack Leader -

proudly owns and operates Pet Peeps. He loves animals.

Gus was a military brat whose family eventually settled in Cherokee, Oklahoma. Growing up he cared for dogs, cats, fish, rabbits and even raised a calf in high school. Although he has always dreamed of raising a pet pig and naming it Godiva.

After serving in the United States Navy, Gus moved around for a while before eventually getting his AA in Theater at Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa, Oklahoma - a hot bed of theatre activity. He then moved to Washington, DC to finish his undergraduate degree at American University. He received a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies and a GPA well below expectations.

Having decided not to attend law school and not liking his internship on the Hill, Gus set out to be DC's best waiter. And, he was. But, eventually, he longed for something different. It started with Gus doing overnights at a boarding facility. He liked working with the dogs and eventually took a job as a dog walker with another pet care service.

In 2006, Gus established Pet Peeps. Since it's inception, Pet Peeps has been blessed with having awesome clients and some luck. Gus is happy to be very active in the daily goings on and meets every new client. If you call in to the office, you're likely to reach him. He'd love to meet you too.

Gus is honored to be involved the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters - the nation's largest non-profit for pet sitting professionals. He serves on the Membership and Member's Benefits Committees.

Gus is also a very active member of Capital Area Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce. He serves on the Communication Committee.
